So today I noticed Fatboy was shaking. Not a lot but it was noticeable and worried me. It was kind of like a head tremor except more subtle. Is it possible it's the new food I'm switching him out on? I'm going on week 2 of more of the Taste of the Wild Pacific Steam so he's definitely getting more of it vs. his usual Blue Buffalo Salmon.
Or is it possible that he's developing anxiety? I started University this semester and have night classes. Ever since we've brought him home I've always been here. All day every day. So when he sees me getting ready he realizes that I'm going to be gone. I want to believe it's this because it would be easier to deal with but even when he was sleeping his abdomen area and legs were twitching a little.
I've given him some honey (which he liked at first but soon realized how sweet it was, so he ran away). We will keep an eye on him but I'm almost afraid to give him anymore of the new food. Thoughts?
Fatboy aka Stinky :)
Sophie had the same response the first time we tried TOTW.
She got head shakes within about 2-3 weeks. I took her off it and didn't try it again for a few years. She is fine on it now, but I give a tablespoon of yogurt in each meal as well as supplements to make sure she is getting everything she needs. I have her on the Lamb variety. When she got head shakes on it she was on the salmon variety. She is fone on both now.
The next time it happens, give a tablespoon of honey or Karo syrup, or a little ice cream or peanut butter. Should stop the shakes almost immediately.

Hi there,
Just this past week my bully had his first "head tremor" event. (we feed Darwins natural raw food) Day one was on and off starting at 7pm and continuing through the night. It makes me feel so sad :( I am a nurse and I just can't beleive that no one has researched this yet...as it seems to be fairly common in several breeds. We haven't had any other episodes so I am very happy with that. I know about the hypoglycemia theories and the low calcium theories so I am testing it out. I am know giving him honey in his food twice a day and also adding a calcium supplement. If I find any correlations I will be sure to let you know and post results. Good luck!
