I've been reading alot of your comments on foods, and it seems like alot of people here are using the Natural Balance foods for their bullies. I'm switching our Tucker and Zoey to a grain free food, but have a few questions
-is there a big difference between NB and BB brand foods? which have you guys had more luck with?
-I noticed that BB foods say that they are from "wholesome whole grains," are not all BB and NB foods "grain free?" I ended up getting the BB Basics (Limited Ingredient) salmon and potato.
Zoey has had flank alopecia (not that it really has to do with food) and Tucker seems to be shedding alot. Tucker is now on the fish oil capsules prescribed by the vet, so I figured something with fish will help with his skin. Zoey currently is on Iams Naturals and Tucker is on Eukanuba, but I'm planning on switching them both to the BB. Should I try out NB first? or is BB ok?
Thanks in advance, I know I have alot of questions but I'm new to the grain-free foods!
Honestly, all dogs react differently to feed.
I was on NB for a long time and it did a great job for Sophie. However, about 10 months ago she had a bad reaction to NB sweet potato and salmon. I have tried all the other NB varieties to get her cleared up, but after a month of better, she gets bad tear stains again and itches. I put her on BB limited ing salmon and potato. Make sure you are looking at the right BB product...their regular salmon and sweet potato isn't grain free....It took two full bags, but now I see her tear stains going away and a lot less leg licking. This is only my experience, you may have a totally different one.
As for the oil...I buy Norwegian Wild Salmon oil from walmart for about 7 bucks a bottle. I plop one pill in morning feed and put a tablespoon of plain, fat free yogurt in as well. My girls look incredible and have soft, thck, shiny coats that shed very little.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply! I
Thanks for the reply! I actually switched out our bag today from the BB Limited Ingredient Salmon and Potato to NB Sweet Potato and Fish. I only did that becuase I read somewhere in the forum that oatmeal could be bad for tear stains..but from your experience, I guess it's all different for different dogs! I will start with the NB and see how Tucker reacts to it...right now the only problem he has is the dry skin and shedding, everything else seems ok.
Unless there is a severe bad reaction to the NB,
Give the food at least 2 months to see a difference. Also, give a try with Wild Norwegian Salmon oil, easy to find at Walmart and inexpensive to buy. I give one daily in food. It does wonders for dry skin, but it will take a whe. Patience is an absolute necessity here.
