When Henry was a baby he had demodex that was treated by a vet but he had this one area that didnt seem to heal. It wasn't scabby but the skin was always a little bumpy. Almost like scar tissue but it was a normal pinkish color. Within the last week or so I noticed that this same area looks pretty red and inflamed and the hair will come out if you pick at it but I haven't wanted to touch it because it looks pretty infected. I have put neosporin on it but am not sure what else to try before going to the vets. He is on Natural Balance fish and potato food.
In addition, his nose rope is pretty red, yeasty and inflammed as well. I have been trying to keep it really dry and also have been applying gold bond but it doesnt seem to be improving. This has been for the past 2 weeks or so. Is a vet trip in order? Sorry for the poor quality pics....

THanks!
yep, trip to the vet is in order.
It might be something as simple as a flare up in seasonal allergies has weakened the immune system enough to allow other "issues" to crop up. Your vet should be able to do some skin scraps of the spot to figure out what is going on and give you some medicated ointment/wipes to help with the nose rope or, if the Rx is super costly in the past I have used and know others who have had good success at knocking out over-active yeast growth by using Vagisil wipes (yes, for real...those suckers work on bully yeast infections).
good luck and keep us posted! :)
