Bloody diarhea

Hi there this is my first post so please bAre with me. About 2 weeks ago my 5 year old female English bully abruptly started having bloody diarhea. It stated happening Around bedtime And went all through the night to a point I thought I was gonna loose her because she had lost so much blood. I called the vet at 2 a.m. in the morning to see if I cld bring her in but there was no answer. After a long night of worry I got her to my vet at 7:30 a.m. She was immediately diagnosed with hemmorhagic gastroenteritis (HGE). She stayed at the vet about a day and a half and they sent her home with meds and said it was more than likely brought on by something she ate. A few more days rock along and she is not getting any better. So I take her back to my vet. They run a CBC, do a barium X-ray and various other tests along with exploratory surrgery. The vet came to a conclusion that she has I inflammed bowel disease. Her bloody diarhea has still never went away. Even when she stayed at the vets office she would have consistent blow outs. The vet prescribed her a series of meds and said the was at a loss for what to do besides her see a specialist.  He has been a vet over 20 years and deals with bully's on a daily basis. He said her bowels and sepum were very immmed when he did exploratory surgery. Her diarhea is still ongoing now. We have had her back for 4 days now. She has less volume depending on how much she feels like eating. Her appetite seems to be healthy. She has lost alot of weight in the process and her normally pink gums are very light in color, whiteish...I figure this is from all the blood loss?? She is currently taking prednisone, sulfatrim, sucralfate, loperamide, and dia tabs daily. I Am A loss as to what to do to help her and her bloody diarhea. Has anyone else come across this?? Any advice wld be greatly appreciated...thanks n advance.

Our Ollie had HGE a couple of years ago...

I remember they gave him IV fluids and we had him on prednisone and several other meds.  We did have him on a very bland diet, not his regular food, until it cleared up.  We think Ollie's HGE was caused by stress since he's pretty high strung.  He has relapses once in a while, but as soon as we see the first sign of diarrhea, we start with the flagyl, immodium, Diabac and a bland diet to get it under control before it gets going.  If your guy isn't pink, I would take him back for some more iv fluids, it's VERY important to keep them hydrated.  Did they fast him for a few days when it first started?  Hope things turn around for him, it's really scary to see them with this disease.

Lexi is pretty high strung

Lexi is pretty high strung too and has always been scared of Lot of things since she was a baby. They didn't feed her at the. Et for the first day while she was there. I have her eating plain white rice and bland chicken. Thank u for ur kind words and insight. It is much appreciated. Hopefully within the next week her stools will thicken up some and contain less blood. I have started her drinking pedialyte hoping that will help too. I will get some Imodium for her.

Thanks again I will keep an update on here.
