OMG someone just brought me a bulldog that is terribly bloated and will not eat or drink much but has been that way for a month!!! I have called our vet and she can't get here till later this afternoon. I am going to try to bathe her and see if I can get her to eat at all. Have you ever heard of anything like this?
Nikki
bloat kills in with 24 hrs or less
if not treated....the intestines twist.....it sounds more like a blockage...and if its been a month surival rate is very very low...this is an emergency..it cant wait....you need to do something.....
Thank you. They said she has been that way for about a month!
I will try to get the vet out here faster. We are in a very rural area and do not have the luxury of emergency clinics and such. I was afraid to put her in the car and take her anywhere. I was hoping to wait till the vet could come to us. Thanks, I did not think it could be bloat since it had been so long. She does not act as if she is in any pain, but she looks terrible!!
Doesn't sound like bloat
I would guess that she has a tumor or has collected fluid.
That was my guess as well. Cancer, a tumor. or fluid in the...
stomach. Best of luck with her.

keep us posted ok
we all care here and hope the best for you....and hopefully its just a bad case of neglect by the other owners....prayers for you tonight
Thank you. This is such a sad situation.
She is such a loving girl. When you talk to her or show her any attention she tries to wag her little tail and looks so pathetic. I hate some people!!!!!
can you show us a pic? can't be bloat if its been that long.
I had a coonhound with bloat and recognized the symptoms right away. It was a little while after she ate, and was moaning and whinning. I called my vet and he took her right in 11:30 on a sunday night and said she was lucky.... he sewed her stomach down so it wouldn't happen again, and it never did!!!! But he told me a lady called him before about a shepard that had it, and SHE stupidly decided to wait till morning & it died!!!! Had to be a painfull death.
I will try to download a picture in the morning.
She does not act as if she hurts at all. She does not moan or flinch when you touch her stomach. The stomach is very distended and hard. The vet will have some results tomorrow so we should have a better idea what is wrong with her by then. I will keep you posted. This is something I have never seen before. Thanks for the informationn and support guys. We are going to do whatever it takes to save this girl if we can. We have named her " Lucky" We will do whatever is in her best interests. She has found a loving home for however long she is with us.

any news???
what is happening hoping for some positive news
No news yet, still waiting for test results to come back.
The vet has her on a strict worming program but so far no change either way. I guess that is a good sign, at least she is not getting any worse.
no news is good news...
when so badly neglected...it takes time to get better...i no i have a few rescues that took time to heal...inside and out...well keep popping in...i would love to know what is going on...
