bile and lethargic

Our 3 year old Peanut is not feeling good today....we need some advice on what to do! He woke up this morning and puked up part of a toy. He acted normal after that and so we thought he was okay. Then a couple hours later the puking started again. It's been yellow (bile), solid (food), and most recently liquid. He's done it maybe 5 times. The last time it was clear liquid but it was quite a bit. He hasn't eaten in a long time; he won't take any food. He did drink water this afternoon but hasn't wanted anything since.

We're considering taking him to the vet but it's now been a few hours since he vomited so we're kind of keeping an eye on him. Right now he's laying down.

Any thoughts?? Does this warrant a trip to the vet?

Those are all signs of a blockage...

I would take him in and have him checked out, a blockage is very serious.  My sister's springer was vomiting, lethargic and not eating, and they had to do an endoscopy to remove items that were causing a blockage in her stomach.

update

Peanut has eaten a couple things....two small pieces of hamburger and a biscuit. Earlier he was not interested in food at all. We'll see if he keeps it down. If not, vet asap.

Good news that he's eating...

has he been pooping too?

once

He's pooped once, this afternoon. Not since. But he hasn't eaten anything to poop out :)

Do you think I should still be worried about a blockage? We'll watch him to see if he keeps the food down. We'll see if he wants anything else.

Oh, we did give him a pepto tablet.

Has he pooped?

If not in the past 24 hours then he needs to go to the vet.

glad hes eating and pooping

But he also must drink or he will get dehydrated. Make sure he drinks and Watch him like a hawk. Its not unlikely that his belly is quite upset with him since he ate the toy, but you never know with a blockage. Any heavy panting/drooling suggests he is in pain so watch for that too. Mine ate a piece of sock recently and threw it up but he had diarhea for a few days after his belly was very upset. Can you piece together the toy to make sure you've got all of it? Hope he's ok.

PS

I would take him for sure if he doesn't stop throwing up soon. I am assuming that has passed since he ate? If not bring him to vet asap.

update 2

He did eat a small helping of food and two treats. He kept it down for several hours however he just vomited a miniute ago. I don't think he puked up everything he ate but definitely some.

We'll call the vet tomorrow.

update2.1

Well, he just lost the rest of his food...and the second pepto tablet. Looks like we'll be going to the vet tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the advice and help!! It is so much appreciated.

Good he's going to the vet tomorrow...

something is off with that much vomiting.  I wouldn't try to force him to eat, but just make sure he's taking in water so he doesn't get dehydrated.  Let us know what the vet says, hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

You might also want to ask your vet...

to check him for pancreatitis.

That crossed

my mind too (pancreatitis) with all the vomiting.  :(
