an off brand version of Claritin during the peak of allergy season (as well as benaryl on "bad" days) to help keep my Winston's allergies in check. I'd recommend you talk to your vet about that option and the proper dosage for your guy.
As for the anti-fungal...I've never had to use one so I can't make a recommendation. What are you using it for? I might be able to make a suggestion if I know what "issue" you're trying to get under control...or someone else might be able to if I don't have any ideas. :)

Sometimes he gets an "outbreak" of crusty, stinky patches mainly deep in a fold on the back of his neck and then a spot the size of a tennis ball on his throat. I just started him on his antibotics again and I put medicated powder in the areas. It was really bad this summer - lost a lot of hair but it all came back except for these two areas. I use medicated shampoo on the areas but he just can't shake it.

Onslow gets plain zyrtec twice a day. Def talk to vet first to make sure its ok for him. As for the antifungal you can use either brown listerine (which is antibacterial and kills yeast) or vagisil wipes will kill it too (make sure he doesn't lick it too much, should be good if its on back of his neck). Good luck.

I have a call into my vet - with the zyrtec, is it the same as benadryl with regard to the mg vs. weight. Winston is about 73 pounds. What would his dosage be?

Onslow gets one pill twice a day. He is about the same weight. It cannot be the kind with decongestant, that is dangerous for them. Make sure its the over the counter regular zyrtec or claritin - NO D.

I had heard of bulldogs building up a tolerance to Benedryl. That's why I only give it to mine when absolutely necessary. Like if she's sneezing a lot or nose is running... could you only give yours Benedryl when absolutely necessary? Mine got a steroid shot back in October for allergies and I'm not sure I'd do it again... it changed her appetite and made her into a hungry hippo for weeks afterward.
