aspiration pneumonia
Submitted by vermontbulldogs5 on June 18, 2011 - 9:30amHave a ten-day old pup that aspirated yesterday. She turned blue and we thought we had lost her. We suctioned, coupaged, and then rushed her to the vet. My regular vet was out, and the "new" vet didn't want to do anything aggressive. She gave her clavamox, which I don't think will amount to much. I do have some Azrithomzycin caps that I can crush and give to her. What do you think? Also, we're using the nebulizer with saline and some gentocin drops added to it. Please, any suggestions are welcome.

I hope the puppy is ok. I would just stick to the clavamox prescribed by the vet and keep vaporizor going. Watch that she is upright or hold her upright on mom when she nurses. Don't switch the antibiotic without vet approval and dosage on a little one like this. Good luck and keep us posted.
