another post on tear stains!

So I feel like I have tried EVERYTHING to attempt to clear up JOEYB's tear stains. He only gets filtered water, I tried putting some apple cider vinegar in to change ph, he is eating only raw now, I have used many different combinations of ointments and wipes...and he still has those deep dark stains???? Now, they do not smell and his actual skin is not irritate so that's good but it looks so bad. And I see other people with white bullies and their faces are so nice and clean. Any other possible ideas? You know I'll try it ")

Heidi, tear stains are an enigma!
Kofi has filtered water too, and she was on a quality kibble before switching to raw.
They will completely disappear for months and then surface again. Her's are not bad right now, very short, but she has some. I sometimes think they show up more when I give her beef shin bones to gnaw on, but then who can say for sure.
I think I use to use peroxide on a cotton ball when she had them before. Did you do a search. I think that's what Rotti recommended.....

spring water
Have you tried bottled spring water instead of filtered water? Filtered water can still have the minerals in it that causes the stains. I just buy the gallon store brand SPRING WATER and this cured the problem for Lily. When I look back at old pictures from before she had spring water, I can't believe how bad her stains were.
