Tank has some pretty severe allergies, and it's getting to the point where he will turn upside down and rub his face on the carpet, causing his cherry eye to pop out. I've taken him to the vet, and they suggest two benadryl twice a day. But it doesn't seem to be helping! My poor baby's face is still red and itchy (he started chewing and licking his paws excessivly a couple days ago,) and now he's getting more eye boogers than before. Vet says ride it out, but I'm concerned about him and the cherry eye. Has anyone had better results from a different type of allergy pill? What dosage? (Tank is 65lbs.)

Wouldn't know that he just got a brandnew $60 bed! My forever puppy Tank.
Zyrtec
We have tried Zyrtec 10mg 1 x a day and it seems to help with the watery eye problem. When Roxy had her itchy face/ear outbreak a few months back the vet gave us aller-chlor. I don't know the dose. Our bottle just says 2 every 12hrs. Could it be a food change. Does he have any yeast problems under his nose fold or eyes?? That is what causes Roxy to do the carpet rub.
I agree
you really need to be 100% positive that it is an allergy and not something else.
How old is he?
Do you know what the trigger is? Does it happen year round or? Poor baby.
My guys is 5 years old and we have had problems every year starting in March. I just started him on an allergy pill last week. It seems to be helping but I need to give it more then a week before I can say for sure.
He's about 18mos. The reason
He's about 18mos. The reason we think it's allergies is because of the vet. We have him on benadryl twice a day, and he seems better on it than off of it. But his eyes are still red and his face and paws still seem to itchy.
