Accidents
Submitted by Martine13 on May 7, 2011 - 1:17amHugo is 9 months old and had a UTI a few months ago, he did a course of antibiotics and then it was cleared up. After a few weeks he started to have accidents randomly, not regularly/spread out over a week or 2. So, I took him back to the vet, they did a urinealayand it came back showing some red blood cells and some white cells, so they put him on a different antibiotic while we waited for the culture to come back....well no bacteria cultured. The vet said he may just have an irritated bladder, but I find that odd. We are finishing out the meds, but he just had another accident on our bed!
Why could this be happening??
UTI
I have heard that UTI's are harder to clear up in males than females. So, one round of antibiotics may not have been enough to clear up the first infection. It may take several weeks of antibiotics to completely clear up the infection.
He was tested
But the culture came back with no bacterial growth. Could it be hormonal? He is 9 months and not yet neutered
No Accident
It is very likely that was no accident. At his age his hormones are running wild. Bulldogs are pretty good at peeing on bed and couches. If he were mine he would lose those priviledges and remain on the floor. I would also have him neutered if you are not showing him.
Pugsley is the same
Pugsley will pee on anything soft, beds, couch, pillows, blankets, rugs, etc. Doors cannot be left open with him..lol.
I agree it's probably no accident. Did he use to ask to go out before the uti? Brutus is 6 months old, and he is good at going outside, but he will not ask, he will pee on the floor if we don't let him out enough. Maybe after the uti your boy can't hold it for long.
