8 month old bully with UTI and URI

I have an 8 month old male bully, Hugo.  He seems to have a weak immune system as he has gotten both a URI (possibly Kennel Cough) and a low grade UTI in the past 2 months. I need suggestions on why this is happeneing and also suggestions on how to boost his immune system.

Thanks

So sorry you are having issues like those.

A couple of things you can do to help that immune system...

Give a 500mg Vitamin C in one meal daily. This is a great immune system builder. Mix in into his feed using one tablespoon of Plain, fat-free yogurt in each meal...morning and evening. The yogurt helps with digestion, which helps with gas and other issues.

I have a couple of girls that used to get recurring UTI's. I stop that by giving a Cranberry supplement in one meal daily. I use Cranberry with vitamin c in it, then they get both supplements in one pill. Walmart has a Cranberry w/ Vitamin C supplement that is fairly inexpensive.

I also give Norwegian Wild Salmon Oil pills once a day in their feed to keep their coats and skin in good shape. Don't know that it will help with any of your issues, but it is good for them otherwise:-)

You have to knock the infections out all the way with either UTI or URI. If you don't, they will recur and you may not realize it is the same infection coming back rather than a new one developing. I had that happen in two of my girls when they got a UTI. Whatever the bacteria was, it was very resistant to the antibiotics they received. I had to put them each on a long dose of something else to make sure they were all the way clean. After that I have had no other issues with UTI's...

Make sure there is plenty of fresh water and that he is drinking enough.

Thanks

I just started to give him Vit C, will try the fish oil as well.  I have give him yogert or an adcidopholis liquid in his food daily (but just started that last week) You may be correct, this may be the same infection that has not fully cleared up.  Poor baby.....

Might want to

put him on a supplement if he isn't already.  Pet Tabs are what most people use.  Hope this is it for his infections.  =(

If he continues to have a big immune problem you could do research on Astragalus.  I had to put my bully on astragalus when he had an immune issue (demodex) I still keep him on it 4 years later.  Don't get him neutered until he is fully healthy.
