My boy had been ill within 2 weeks of birth and was one of only 3 of a litter of 7 to survive. Pretty much symptom free ever since. Eats well, no illness until about a month ago when started infrequest moist cough without any other symptoms. Increase moist cough, took to Vet heard congestion in chest started on cephalexon and given penecillin shot after 3 days not better back to Vet and switched to zenequin. Breeder contacted decided to take to her Vet who started him on z-pack and injected a mix of antibiotic and prednisone into trachea. He seemed much better 5 days later I was taking him back to be watched by breeder because I had to be out of town for a week. He got worse again and was put on another z-pack and then was given an injection of long acting antibiotic. His cough was moderate when I picked him up. Breeder had been giving benedryl to help dry him and he had developed the runny nose and watery eyes. His eyes were very red. I started eye antibiotic ointment for the past couple of days and his eyes area about half as red still need to be cleaned every day of custy waterey dried matter.
Does anyone know what he could have or how I should progress? He more then likely has a palette issue but was hoping that I could wait until he was over a year old to put him under to deal with it.
Except for the cough this sounds like an allergy issue.
But also could be accompanied by a small trachea. What are you feeding him?
