4 months since surgery, hair wont grow back

Diesel had his knee worked on and other than the hair thing the surgery has been a great success thus far.  problem is its been 4 months and minus a couple small patched the hair shows no sign that it will grow back.  the places it did come back, its full length and colored.  The places its missing still (80% of the original shaved area) is still bald to the skin.  Will it just take longer or is something wrong?  Unfortunately he has has 3 surgeries to date and the prior 2 the hair never had a problem but both those times were different areas of the body.  Health wise he seems great its just weird and been awhile now....

Gizmo's still bald after 10 months surgery

We had to have Gizmo's tail removed, due to a horrible tail pocket, so they shaved her butt, up to her lower back... both sides... bald as a cue ball.   10 months later, all hair is back, except for on the left butt cheek.  Still bald as a cue ball.

No idea why... but *shrug* that's gizmo!

You can get a product called Calm Coat.

It is an absolutely amazing help with hair regrowth. I wouldn't have believed how great it works if I hadn't used it on my German Shepard girl when she first came to me as a rescue with NO hair on most of her lower back and bottom. Believe me, it works very well! She has a thick, beautiful coat now.

You can find it in most feed sotres or maybe Petsmart. Not sure about Petsmart, I found it at my feed store I buy my horse stuff at:-)

im a hairdresser,,,,

and with that, i deal with a lot of woman and men who have surgeries, some being simple as a general surgery, and other types... Anathesia always effects the hair follicle first, because hair is one of the easier particales in the body to break down.... and thats why u lose the hair.. Anasthesia also can stay in the blood stream anywhere from 1 - 4 years.. so with diesel having as many surgeries has he has, he prob has soo much of the anasthesia still left in his system that his hair maybe not grow back for a really long time,.. i wouldnt  be to concerned.. if hes happy and healthy,. then thats prob all it is.. make sure he drinks plenty of water and that will help it flush out of his system .... as for the hair, when its ready to build and grow it will come back...

Nicole. :).
