Hello! I have a English bulldog named Lily and she had and Entropion surgery about a month ago and when we went in for the follow up appt the vet didn't realize that he had done the surgery. So he offered to do a second surgery for free (today). When I went in today he told me that he would discuss with the other vet about how to go about the new cut, about 3 hours later they call and tell me that they want to cut the fold over her nose completely off. I told him no not to do it, it just didn't sound right to me. I found you guys and am hoping to get some advice on what I should do. I live on the central coast of california (3 hours north of L.A.). Thank you everyone for your time
Run!
Any vet that suggests you remove the nose rope, needs to find another occupation.
There have got to be better vets in your area. Personally, I wouldn't let them touch my dog again.
On the front page of this site, is a list of vets.
Good luck

Find a new vet
that knows something about bulldogs. I wouldn't let these idiots touch my dog. A nose rope should never be removed.
New vet ASAP......
You may also try The Bulldog Club of America web site. Local clubs may also be able to help you. You are in BCA Division 3. You may also want to check out any listed breeders in your area and ask who they use. This info. is also listed on the BCA and local clubs web site. Once they hear your story I am sure they will want to help you find a better vet. Good luck!
Thank you!
Thank you all for the advice! I just read the 5 things not to do with a bulldog and broke rule number 5... I am denifitely not taking Lily back there. I happy I found this place before I made any decision

Ozzy has a VERY large nose rope. His vet said he MAY need a face lift if it rolled over his nose, but so far she has not touched it. Here is a picture
I live on the Central Coast ...I can help you!
Our Sally (1.5 yrs) has had 2 entropian surgeries, plus cherry eye and distacia surgery. We used Dr Schmidt in Arroyo Grande. She's a canine opthamologist and is the BEST in our area. Please contact me if you have any questions. (805) 801-3431 Deanne
