where do you order the cool collars I notice a lot of bulldog breed exhibitors use? I'm getting ready to show my gal in agility this April and think it will be a valuable item to have, you never know what this wonderful Florida weather will hold
also what size do you order??
thanks
Hey Kelly
I use mine very rarely. We don't show during the summer months as a general rule, so don't need to worry about leaking and the wet dog in the ring. We travel with the collars (in case of emergency) to the vet and such but rarely use them which is why I stitched my own. Your collars are nice tho-as I said in my origional email-much fancier than mine
)). Didn't mean any harm.

Yes - that's what I did
That material that Wal-Mart has for those drying cloths is great. It's very durable and super absorbant. I hand stitched mine (and it looks like I hand stitched it!) and it works just fine. I've purchased other pre-made neck coolers and they aren't as good as the one I made. I like that you can custom "fit" them as well when you are making them on your own. I made mine real wide and thick.
Since my stitching will not doubt give way, can you email me your stitching instructions? I'll have to pick up a sewing machine and get my home ec teacher out of retirement for a refresher course.
Sorry Laura
If you got that impression. I was simply stating the difference in the quality of the material and why I use top grade material. The difference is in the absorbency. I tried several different cheaper materials and was disappointed. They do not hold up to as many washings either. Like the difference between a Mercedes and a Ford Escort. You get what you pay for. IMO if you are going to go through the trouble making them spend a few extra bucks and get the good material.

Kelly:
I was not trying to take business away from you as I don't make them for others or sell them, just offering an immediate suggestion to a question asked. Not meaning any harm or taking anything away from you who designed them.

Another option
A friend told me you can order them from Jason Oehlcher. He's at the shows in Florida. He's showing Ch. Chenoweth Milwaukee Iron. He has some with him.

Warning
I have made the colars at one point with the cheaper material mentioned. If you use this material it does NOT obsurb the the ice when it melts, like the better material does. You may end up disapointed. I would reccomend the high grade material if you don't want to ring out the material every five minutes or end up with a wet dog in the ring. I was the one that designed the collars and have tried several types of material. DO NOT use the cheap stuff. You will be happier spending a few extra dollars to get the good material.

cheap way to make cooling collars
I make my own-not near as fancy as some of the ones I've seen at the show but serviceable. And I just don't have the time to add the frills. Go to WalMart in the automotive section. Get the car wiping towels. The cheap ones called Spotless Dryer work-but I like the Aqua Dry better(also really bright collars). One cleaning cloth makes 2 collars. If you want sewing instructions email me. If you know how to sew(on a machine) you can fix one in 30 minutes or less once you get the knack of it. You just need the car wiping towels, velcro and thread(and a sewing machine).

You should contact Kelly Franz....
She makes a wonderful cool collar & coat.
There is an opening in the collar where you can put ice cubes. It's great. I bought Olivia a lovely pink one last year.
