enough to choose from, still managable, and Mom has enough(usually)teats on one side-or-if she sits up, to feed everyone in one shift. I hate double shifts. Although if my champion was in a liiter of 1-3 that would be great too!

actually, any size litter with a healthy mom and babies works! But you have to get up just as often with 1 as you do with more. There's some extra work to a slightly larger litter, but I think it's worth it. I've never had over 6, and I don't think I want to...to rough on the mom, nursing so many!

Re: Did you feel overwhelmed with 7?
Actually the sleep deprievation was the hardest thing for me to get used to.
8 hour's of nothing but sleep would have been nice...
I got used to the routine with my 7. What I wasn't used to was staying at my house for 16 days straight and not leaving them...lol
Take Care Sue...Kim
I have a litter of 6 now
and the sleep and the not leaving is the roughest part, but we have a routine down now so its getting easier and easier they are 1 week old already..
Did you feel overwhelmed with 7?
Especially with it being your first litter?

Re: I have to agree...4 or 5 pups.
