Does anyone out there in Bulldog land have any puppy pictures of "Ozzy" when he was a pup? He is my favorite Bulldog/stud of all time and I have a breeding to him this spring....I would love to see what he looked like when he was a pup.
You can email me privately if you are concerned about the security of the picutres. I would like ot possibly post a couple of them in the "in the lines" section of my website.
thanks,
James

Re: so i think this can be education so i am going to go with it
I thought my questions were simple and stright forward and I said I was not picking on you in any way. Just wanted you to share with others what you base it on. Simple question. So your answered the Bella question and thank you for that. I know there are several people who lurk on here that i thought could learn from this post but it did not go in that direction. We know that ALOT of people on BDW breed and do not show. And we also know many lurk and read....so i was hoping some would come out and share. But now that i think about, probably not because too many would have slammed them. Ok I see.
Sorry James. YGM

I asked a simple question about puppy pictures and ended up getting slammed for only God knows what. I am requesting everyone move on...It is counter productive...this is supposed to be an educational tool whereas fellow Bulldoggers can share their opionons (about Bulldogs), and share their experience as to educate the rest of us who are trying to make a difference in the breed. This should NEVER become personal. I think BDW is a great resource...until people get involved.
I wish everyone...and I mean everyone the best of luck...go hug your bullies adn quit wasting time worrying about people you do not know...why waste your time on me? I am sure your Bulldogs woudl appreciate your time adn attention.
Good luck and good bye,
James
response
As far as Bella being a top brood bitch...."my" justification for that statement is two fold...a) her ability to produce quality get...her last litter was outstanding...not according to me, but the current owners feedback which based on the pups perfomance in the ring...most of all their sucess in the ring...no way will I pull the owners into this confrintation... what appears to be question of my knowledge and integrity by you Rhiann....and b) the opinion of those both here in the US and Europe who have seen her in person and have had the pleasure to put their hands on her. All of do not have the luxury to travel and show our Bulldogs...I have had seveal competent handlers offer to campaign Bella for me, but she is first and foremost my best friend who sleeps at the bottom of my bed...I simply will not send her out with anyone.
Second: about the high price of semen...I thought it was common knowledge that supply and demand sets the price in the market...Bulldog or anthing else where currency is the means of payment. The reason the price was high was simply due to the quality fo the stud (once again not my opinion, Ozzy is an international champion, Crufts Reserve winner, and has produced countless champions and a couple of world winners), the shipping and import/export tax expense, the fact that his current owner is VERY particular...he does not need the money.
I must say Rhiann that I find your comments a bit demeaning and offensive. I could fire right back, but I refuse to be sucked into confict, it's a bit self serving and in mature...especially in a public format...this has passed the debate stage and become personel....hence, the reason I am a BDW lurker....I have better things to do with my time than argue over Bulldogs...in this case, I felt that I needed to defend myself.
Why on earth would you question me publically...you have my email address. Please do not respond to this for I am ready to move on to more positive endeavors.
James
thank you James!
As always best of Luck to you on your breedings and please share those pups with us when the time comes.

we have reconciled
I am very happy to say that Rhiann and I have spoken in private and resolved this debate once and for all. The disadvantage to email's and forums is that they only account for one aspect of communication...we don't get to see the sender's body language or hear their tone of voice, so many messages are mis-interpreted. Teh important thing is that eveyone act responsibly and maturely while steering the dialogue back into a more positve direction.
After all, we Bulldoggers are fortunate enough to have discovered one of the world's finest treasures....the 8th wonder of the world....the almight Bulldog!
Best wishes all...especially to Rhiann....its all good on this end.

so i think this can be education so i am going to go with it
so here it goes, I have some questions for you and a few generals as well
"relationship with him adn show him numerious pics of my top brood bitch."
so what makes her a top brood bitch? Do you mean that she is one of your better producers? Based on what? If your dogs have never been in the ring how do you know? I am not picking on you James, trust me that is not my intention. But I want to see answers from those who do not wish to show thier dogs? How do they know they are worthy of breeding? What do they base it on? Do they have them evaluated by people who show?
Anyone can take a Bulldog, look at The Standard and say, yeah my dog looks just like that. i see that all the time at the dog park and meetups.
All these new Bulldog owners buying imports and studing them out, talking about what prime examples they are.
Now i will say, they have some beautiful pedigrees and maybe its all based on that...
so educate me here James? What do you personally base it on?
Anyone else wishin to chime in please do.
"I paid a very high price for his semen...certainly not for brokering, but personal use..."
My next question...why such a high price? What regualted semen? What do breeders base thier stud fees on?
I did see a Bulldog in the Bulldoger who at one time was a 500 dollar stud fee, people started using him more and within a few months it was raised to 750? So was it raised because his get was nice?
Anyone have answers here?

Ok READ THIS
I do not believe I ever stated Ozzy's semen was being mass brokered...period. Procuring, buying, trading, whatever the case may be and then reselling this or any other dogs semen is brokering...in my opinion. I never said it was being done on a mass scale...just that it is in fact being done. That's it, nothing more. I never will understand how words in plain view can get twisted and distorted.
one last comment
I would like to make some final comments on the subject of using foreign studs
I have talked to more than 30 people who have had the PRIVAELAGE to see THE Ozzy in person and a few who are fortunate enough to put their hands on this MASTERPIECE of a Bulldog...not my opnion, but the opinon of Bulldog experts such as Pet Dellar (Meriveen) Moreano Isella (previous Ozzy owner) Kevin and his father from the Mystle/Ocobo, Hans Baker (SeaBright), and many other top breeders who know the breed very well. These people are my mentors and helped me choose Ozzy as the stud...not pictures or the internet.
Also, I agree in not chosing a stud by picures along...they CAN be very decieving...instead, if you are interested in some of the top European Bulldogs...build relationships w/ Bulldogs experts who have the experience adn knowldege that are qualified to form an opinion. There are some wonderful Bulldogs all over the world...including here in teh US. We need to keep an open mind and consider the Best stud globally to improve and maintain the wonderful breed we all LOVE...just be careful.
All for now,
James
Oh Dear!
Scott (Mr Lurker) I NEVER meant to imply that brokering Ozzie's semen was a bad thing! I knew your involvement obviously from my dear hubby, but did not want to use your name nor anyone else's without permission. I know Ozzie's semen has been kept on the down low so I didn't want to pipe up with any names and direct any unwanted attention your or the "other lurker's" way! I was actually positive that the man of endless pictures had to have the pictures requested, but figured you might just email James. lol I can image all the inquires that anyone gets when it comes to this dog...so I was simply trying to keep it short and simple and not pull anyone else into it
No mini vans here...EVER! The suburban seats 8 so we're good!
The baby is due in August, so we're a little more than half way there. I guess we're the half Asian Brady Bunch
Re: read my post
If that is the case, I will be the first to apolize to you Rhiann...we have always had a good relatinship and hope we always will...we ARE fellow Bulldoggers afterall!
Good luck and keep up the good work.
James
rebutle
Rhiann:
I hope you are were not suggesting I am brokering Ozzy semen or would ever do so....furthermore, I spent coutless hours developing strong relationships w people who have seen Ozzy, judges who have judged him, and breeders who have bred to him. I got my semen directly from Casimiro from Lachata...Ozzy's current owner....he first turned me down until I spent time fostering a relationship.
Please clarify you statement about me....I HOPE I misunderstood your assumption and/or accusation about me. I apologize if I misunderstood...if not, we certiainly need to talk. I would never intentionally hurt your or anyone else in this manner.
Respectfully,
James
read my post
not directed at you. problem with the internet, often misinterpreted.

i think you read that wrong
I was not stereo typing James. I said that was likely the case with him, meaning that he was using the semen availale here in the US...then went on to say my opinion about people using Ozzy semen.
I have talked with james, do not know him personally but knew he was considering Ozzy for some time. Actually I think he has it planned beofre Bellas Litter, or at least thought about it.
My concerns is not about one individual but of a group. I was stating, and agreeing with the other poster who also hopes the semen is not being used by the wrong people.
Its an opinion, thats all. People can use what ever stud dog they want. but how do you go about using a stud dog and knowing he is a good one when these factors come into play
a, you don't show your own dogs, so what do you base quality, and conformation on?
b, you have never even seen the dog ( if you do not show, how do you know a stud dog is a good dog?)
c, your decision is based on pictures? (which by the way are decieving and can be altered to hide just about anything nowadays) Do pictures show movement, health, temperment ect?
...not directed towards anyone person but as a general question.

PSSSST
Now to stir up any, but I worked very hard to develop a relationship w/ Casimiro of Lachata...the current owner of Ozzy...trust me in saying Ozzy is NOT being brokered on a mass scale. As a matter of fact, on the onset Casimiro turned me down several times until I actually took time to foster a relationship with him adn show him numerious pics of my top brood bitch. I paid a very high price for his semen...certainly not for brokering, but personal use...we all need be really carefuly of degrading dogs and dog owners....Ozzy is the best.
James
Do you know James??
I do and he is top notch. Get to know him before you stereotype and make assumptions.
yeah i know
that is what i was afriad of and most likely the case with James.
I just hope that these people are not using this frozen from him because its some prized commodity. I think he is a nice boy as well but would never use him because I have Never seen him, nor have I put my hands on him.
At the least i will settle for a stud based on my friends opinion, and consulatation with the stud dogs owner.
But hey, thats me. To each his own.

How's it going Jess? Are you bout ready to give birth here any time soon?

The second time I've come out of posting retirement just for you my dear. I just wanted to set the record straight on this one. I've been in direct contact with the owner and have received picture, video, and an invite to the owners home. I know a few other people that have been in direct contact with the owner and have indeed gotten their semen directly from the owner himself. I can attest to that 100%. The dog is not being brokered on a mass scale or anything like that. At least not here. In fact, his semen is very hard to come by. I know the dog is currently standing stud in Spain so I have have no idea what goes on overseas. IMO Ozzy is a nice specimen and a proven sire with top winning get around the world but at this point I'm just sick and tired of talking about the dog because there's so many people that want a piece of the dog for the wrong reasons.
Anyhow, sorry I had to refute your statement. I was happy and content just being a lurker but "Just When You Think Youre Out, They Pull You Back In"
Best and congrats on your soon to be new new addition to the family. That makes what? Brady Bunch numbers by now? Time to trade in the truck for a beige mini van
Scott
that seems shady
to me! brokered semen...

Not that simple
i don't think anyone is going through his "owners". His semen is being brokered by a few people who may or may not have pics
my guess would be
that if your using him as a stud then the owner would have pics of him for you.

I have decided the internet gremlins must be at work tonight because nobody seems to be able to effectively communicate tonight. Somehow our two posts got combined and voila...instant indecipherable mess. I'm going to bed too! lol
We do not know the sex of the baby. Maybe you'll be back out soon??
