I don't think the AKC has specific requirements. They expect the owner to abide by the local laws and work with their vet to protect their dog.
Talk to your vet about the shots most important in your part of the country, as there are areas with more concern about some diseases than others.
It would be great to think that noone would bring sick dogs to shows, but we all know that it happens all the time. All you can do is protect your dog with vaccines appropriate for your area.

Thanks, I wanted to protect others dogs from mine, at first. Now I just want to make sure I can get him in the ring, and protect his health. It's nice you answered, I know some folks to ask, by email, but I didn't want to rush to them every time Buddy farts. lol

Steve,
You want your dogs to have all of the basic vaccinations required by state law, and dependant upon where you live additions for protection. Distemper, Parvo, Adenovirus 2, Parainfluenza, Hepatitis, and of course Rabies. But you might greatly consider Lepto as it has been on the rise in some areas, it is zoonotic (passes between human and canine) and is a vigorous and aggressive killer. A girl I went to school with got Lepto in the clinic, she was in ICU in 48 hours and had lost a kidney! Not something to mess around with! (oh it is passed through urine). Bordatella (kennel cough) is another. The vaccination will not guarantee that they will not get it, but it will protect them some. There is now a vaccine for the canine flu, but again, it doesn't prevent catching it, just "hopefully" builds antibodies. You have to think of it like the human Flu shot... The more you learn about what they can be exposed to at a show, and how it is all transmitted, the more you realize prevention is always best.
Thanks again N M
