Just curious as to thoughts and on American Bred class. I don't see this class used all that much. Why is that? I was thinking of using it at a specialty show. I would love any feedback. Thanks

It does give me food for thought on this class. It seems like at all breed shows that there are very few entries if any, (in my area anyways) but it seems to be used more at specialties shows. Like many of you pointed out, if you have more than one dog/bitch to be shown, this is a good option. Thanks for the info.

bred in the USA. Over the years somehow it has become more of a catchall for anything bred here in the USA. My first Bulldog CH Lord Punchinello was shown to his championship from American class by Ernie Hubbard who was showing another dog in Open class at the same time but finished my first Punch months before the other one finished. Punch finished in 1 season at 5 years old and went on at 7 to win national Veteran in 1983 over other well known breeders dogs (there were 7 I believe in the class).

Thaks for your input. I am in Sacramento area. I think my bitch is looking good. She has great lines. I would like her to mature out a little bit more. She isn't quite a year yet. I have shown her a couple a times & always in her age class. She has done alright so far. Nothing to brag about yet, but her day will come. Our next show will be MLBC specialty in Feb 07.

Depends on the quality of dog being shown in AM. Bred...usually the class is filled with dogs that are not competetive in open or where the extra dog will be shown..I like the class actually...and had a bitch that went reserve from the AM Bred Class at a Nationals Back up show...I think the reason we entered in the Am Bred was we were still pretty new and thought we would have a better chance being seen in a smaller class..Reguardless you still have to have a dog that can win over bred bys and opens..If you feel more comfortable in Am Bred go for it!!! and have a good time..

We have litter mates and we show JR in the Am class hubby is just getting used to showing I see nothing wrong with the class at all We cant show both dogs in the same class because they want to play. Also Cati's dog Chips won winners dog out of the Am bred class at Nationals last year at the back up show and then she finished him 2 weeks later. In my area we use ths class alot and there are alot of nice dogs in the class that has won out of it. Just my 2 cents

thinking, why not increase your chances? Especially at a speciallty show. My bitch is in 12-18 mo right now, I live in CA & classes can be big. At least this is a better shot at BOW. Do some people pooh-pooh this class?

She has 2 open Bitches that she would like shown, of course she has 2 people who can show for her, but why not put a dog in the AM Breed class. Since you can only have 1 winner in each class, if you win both classes you have a better chance of 1 of the dogs getting the points.
Thanks for the responses..

Years ago this was considered a prestigeous class as it showed w

I was just talking with a friend about using the Am breed class
