Show/breeding question....dillema??

Okay, here is where I am at. I have one Euorpean male with strong lines that just received his championshi in Hungary. I hope he will be back in the states in July. I am considering another male that is for sale in Germany...but I am concerned about something. About 3 generations back there is a bulldog whom I believe the mother is a boxer. I am worried how this would affect his AKC registration and the ability to show him. I am also worried about having any breedings with him and "contaminating" someone's lines with boxer.

Any advice? It is hard because he is a fantastic dog and his first couple generations are healthy and strong. It is just that one boxer that is eating at me.

Thank you all so much!

German dogs are tattood or chipped

so the link between the dog and the pedigree is certain.

The dog that alledgedly has a Boxer in his pedigree, won't have a pedigree! So this grandparent isn't a Boxer, or the Bulldog for sale doesn't have a pedigree! Where does the information that this dog has a Boxer as a parent come from?

As long as this dog has a FCI-pedigree, you won't have problems in getting a pedigree for your puppies. And yes, a FCI-pedigree is legal, as it is the pedigree that is issued by the World Wide organisation for Kennelclubs. Only countries like the UK, USA and some 3rd world countries are not part of the FCI.

A dog with a FCI-pedigree can be imported into the USA and become part of the AKC-registration.

I agree..

I would definitely pass on him. If his great great granddam was a boxer then his bloodline is basically polluted. It would take many generations to fix the blunder of breeding a bulldog to a boxer. That he came out looking good might be a fluke but what do the sibblings look like? Vicky is right, you can't show him and you most definitely can't breed him!

Thank you!

That is what I figured, but it is just comforting to have it confirmed with an unbiased opinion.

Thank you!

I would pass if you are not sure

about the pedigree, if he is not 100% then i would pass.

He would not be able to be shown AKC and should not be breed. I would aks for DNA.
