a sad message.....

just received this email from Shane Twamley.... a sad message....

I just spoke to the director of events for Eukanuba who sadly informed me that the bulldog that was coming from Venezuela for the WORLD CHALLENGE died in their efforts to get here.
If there are new people out there who are unaware of the dangers of flying a bulldog, I hope this will be a reminder that our bullies can have difficulty breathing and should not be shipped by plane unless they are flown in pressurized cabins. Even then, some bulldogs may get stressed by a new environment as they sometimes do even with ground transportation. Our bulldogs are innocents that look to us for their protection so it is always best to err on the side of caution, as sadly, there are too many that have learned this the hard way.
Let's hope that the rest of the holidays are happy and healthy for all dogs and their owners.

Flying dogs

I am sure you are all aware what happened when we were trying to bring Calibra Kryptonite (Oliver) from England.....unfortunately the outcome was grave. What wasnt known is that we tried on several occasions to purchase space in the cabin (including buying several seats) to which no airline would allow. Unfortunatly, it was not the dog's fault as per the post mortem. I know that another Calibra dog has recently arrived here in Canada. This time, based on the Oliver experience, they used a boat. It took awhile, but the dog arrived safe and sound happy.gif Dont forget about this option people, it is pretty old fashioned, but an option none the less.

I know exactly what these people are going through and would never wish that sort of sadness and regret on anyone. My deepest sympathies on the loss of such a lovely dog.

NikkiandJulie's picture

So Sad to hear about the bully. I would be afraid tolet Julie ou

I know I am too protective, but I do not know what I would do without her. My prayers go out for the bully and his family.

Re: a sad message.....

I had heard this and was hoping it was not true.

We lost a dog flying home from National in 1989. Before that we flew them with no problems, have never flown once since and never will.

Our condolences to everyone involved.
