The Old Timer

was so lucky in this breed that the old timers discuss the dogs being shown ring side and would always talk about their good qualities. If it was the ear they would talk about the rose. They always said anyone can pick out faults. I think we need more of the old days. Kim

Re: Rerod

On one hand you say anyone can pick out flaws but yet you make a comment about "the short face you see on the bulldogs today".. That's all I'm talking about.. I'm not trying to be mean..
I think the breeders right now are doing a great job. I think most of them are more informed then they once were. I say that because of all the books written and also the internet.

I understand what you're saying...

emphasize the positive aspects of each dog, rather than highlight the faults...we need more of this. I haven't gotten the feeling that you're "looking back to the good ol' days" as much as are trying to stimulate some good conversation on our breed Glad you've joined in, Kim!...I personally like to learn all that I can and have a policy of "eating the meat and spitting out the bones"

Rerod

Most all my comments about the bulldog were from Flo I think we have some really nice bulldogs today as I have them come to my house to mentor and have used them in my workshop for a AKC licensed club. I am new at the chat and I tried to take some of her opionions and I have confused alot of people. I teach it but when it comes to writing I usually try to copy her notes. I know what she was saying but sorry it did not come out right.
I have got it all on the right track my web is www.movieanimals.com myspace/movie animals there is a bio have not brought it up to date but gives you a idea who I am. On web address click on Bufords bulldogs. Thank you for comment. Kim

One of my mentors is Darlene Stuedemann. I love sitting with her ringside and listing to her.. Anytime I have a question about breeding or the standard or pedigrees she makes time for me.

Don't get me wrong, but you are kind of coming off like nobody knows anything now a days..
From previous posts you make it seems like dogs of yesterday are better than what you would find now.. I'm not sure if I agree with that.
