Nose rope

Hi, I am new to showing dogs and am just doing some research. My question is regarding nose ropes. I have noticed that most show dogs have a single nose rope rather than a split nose rope. Is a single nose rope preferred in the ring or is it just a coincidence?

Lots of nice dogs out there without big ropes...

I'm not a huge fan of big ropes...they often detract from the ability to see the layback. I think maybe it's just a coincidence in your area at this time.

Re: Nose rope

Makes no difference.

What IS important is nose placement.

A wrinkle over the nose is not a virtue if it overhangs the nose, causes entropion or gets nasty underneath.

The idea here is NOT to have a wrinkle fill in the space of a nosey head.

The idea is to have a well placed nose, well laid back. The wrinkle is not a feature even mentioned in the standard, it is just an accent.

The only wrinkles named in the standard are the dewlaps, which are under the neck.
