Need Glueing Ear help

Layla is 17 weeks old and her ears have popped up and she is holding them too high . This just happened .... they were not this high last week ! Her breeder suggested I glue them in hopes that it will help . She tried to explain the glueing but I dont get it . I saw the visual on the front page of this site . Is that how I should glue them for this high set ear problem ? and have any of you had success with glueing with a pup as old as 17 weeks ? thanks !

Here is a pic I took of her yesterday wink.gif I've gotta get those ears DOWN ! LOL

I would not remove the glue

I would leave them glued and as the ear start to come lose, glue it again. Also, you can staple the with a special stapler for these sort of things.

i bet they popped up because she is teething...

i would glue them too but they may come back down on their own. ears do weird things during the teething stage, lol

Which tape/glue do you use?

Do you use a type of sports tape? Besides hair glue, I use sports tape (not at the same time, the skin gets irritated) and tape the ears in the right position. They look so great when I remove it in 24 hrs, but it only takes a couple of hours for it to start flopping again! What kind of glue do you use? I take it off after 24 hours to let the skin 'breathe'.
Havok is just 6 months today, so I'm hoping I can get this under control!
Thanks!

I don't...

I don't remove the glue, he just scratches at his ears and gets them flopping around again. (we used a cone collar for about a month until he outgrew it) I've been regluing them daily. When I use tape I remove that after 24 hrs because they get all yucky! With the glue, his skin tends to get inflamed. Is there a 'hypoallergenic' glue or something? I've only used the hair glue from Sally Beauty Supply, it doesn't seem to be very strong. We actually joked before about stapling them! People actually do that? Is that something I talk to my bulldog vet about? I'm sure he's heard it before, that place is bulldog central!
Thanks!

No worries ......

I just got "fussed" at ( jokingly ) by the President of the Bulldog club in my state . I never even thought to ask him , and he saw my post here.... he wants me to bring her to his house ( about 30 min from me ) so he can glue them for me and show me how to glue ears . They are so helpful !! As is my breeder ....but she is about 3 hrs away from me wink.gif

How far away from the breeder are you?

If you can, I would let someone who has glued ears before show you how, preferably the breeder.

Yep, I think thats what happened .....

because her ear set is good . They arent set too high . She is just holding them alert . We reglued them and I am massaging the cartilage on top . Dont know if that helps but it cant hurt wink.gif We used hair extension glue from Sally's and its pretty strong stuff .

I think you are right ....she is teething . She will be 4 months on the 18th .
