I am fairly new to showing and I want to know how to get my Bulldog's nails as short as what I see in the ring. I Dremel them once every week to two weeks till I see the horse shoe looking flesh spot and stop, but mine are not as short as what I see on some of the others. Of course, the nails are not as long as some I see, either. Should I grind them more often?
Are there any here who will be showing at the Montgomery, AL all breed shows this coming weekend? I will be there to show and continue my and my Bulldogs education. I see that the Bulldog count is 42 on Friday and 53 on Saturday and Sunday.

We, well actually my wife, keeps our dogs nails very short. She got started doing this when she was trying to satisfy her Bullmastiff guidance counselor. She dremels active show dogs a minimum of once a week and generally twice a week. There is the occasional dog that will require a third time to maintain the shortness that we desire. She has now reached the point where even the Bullmastiff people call her the toenail Nazi. She's currently showing a Frenchie owned by a vet and the vet can't keep them short enough so they're going to start driving across town at least twice a week so that she can get them down. We tell people, "Aim for the shortness of a show Doberman, which you will never reach, and what you will end up with is just about right."

Hello Ken-we are going to be in Montgomery Sat/Sun. We try to dremmel once a week, but ours aren't as short as I would like either.
