What can I say? Oh....my. Not a class for bulldoggers! Nutmeg and I did just fine, but it was so different from what Jeff and Winn have taught me so far. It was mostly retreivers and terriers, and the instructor is a well-known Lab handler. I have never seen so much bait being thrown all over the place! It was more like a buffet than a handling class. I don't know much, but I know that isn't how I've seen the bulldogs handled at the shows I've watched. I am trying the class at Positive Dog Training in Woodinville, so if you all know anything about that one, let me know. Melanie recommended someone to me, but they aren't teaching until July, so I will try them next! Of course, still going to Jeff and Winn's whenever they have time. At least Nutmeg packed on some weight last night with all that food being flung about! LOL She had fun, but I had to suffer the ride home with some serious bulldog farts.

Yes to Bothell Monday night
Turns out I have a hair appt tomorrow morning, so I can't make it to that handling class in Woodinville. I would like to hit a class once a week with her, and I have to drive in to work on Monday anyways (normally I take the train), so long story short, yes, I will check out that class with you all. Should I bring some bait? I didn't bring any with me last time and they looked at me like I was an alien!!!

classes
I have gone to a bunch of training classes, and find everyone is different and offers different advice. some I really like and some seem strange...it may not be the norm, but you WILL learn something new at every class, if you just try their way. Also, it is really OK that they threw bait around.....good way to teach your dog not to go for it, there is tonnes of bait on the showring floors. Sorry I cant reccomend anyone for handling classes, I'm in Canada! I would just stick it out until your other class in July, even if it isnt what you want, you and your dog SHOULD still get something out of it, even if it is just time on the matts, and leash respect.

sounds good
i need to bring HOLLY, she is coming back to the ring at BVKC. we are working her butt out, need to tackle and do her nails.
I need to put a leash on Roast too, he is so good. He just follows me around watching everymove. He is not food motivated either. UNLIKE your little beast, she LOVES food so watch your fingers.

Vicky, Yes I would like to go
but not for a couple of weeks. They need another shot and I have 1 more week of personal training at the gym. So Monday the 18th is out. Maybe the 25th would work. I guess I'd better start putting a collar and lead on the "Wild Thang"
are you talking about the AOCB?
if so i know where it is if Deb you want to carpool.
Re: My first handling class
hahahaha..... I actully had to train a dog not to bait dive cause the non sporting group matts were full of it! people seem to though it but never pick it up, they can be taught to ignore the bait chunks on the floor lol, with alot of effort! its all in good fun I guess.. glad you had fun.

If there is something in Bothel
I would go with Ester. She'll need the practice in a few weeks.
i might be in too.
you might try the classes in Monroe too. I think your best bet is a few of us getting together at Winn & Jeffs.

Where at in Bothell?
Bothell
There are classes every Monday night at 7:15 in Bothell that we go to if you want to pop in one night. Might be able to help you with some stacking and what not. It can get kind of intimidating with all the other dog breeds in class, they all show so differently.

Academy of Canine Behavior (Bothell)
I do plan to be there next Monday (6/18) with Liz and Katie. Sounds like Vicky and Deb might be there, too.

Monday nights at 7:15pm. Cost is $7. It's a popular class... VERY full, but we practice on our own while we're waiting our turn in line. Make sure to let us know if you plan to attend so we can join you.
Vicky also mentioned Monroe. The place is called DogWorks. I completely forgot about them. I haven't been there in years, but their class was pretty good. It's taught by someone different now, but I've still heard good things. I believe their classes are Wednesday nights at 7:30pm. Cost is $10. Here are a couple websites with more info:
