I saw this encouraging post on the Doberman Pincher Legislative Update page. Finally a Bill that we should support as much as we oppose AB 1634!!!

End Dog Breed Discrimination by Insurers--Support SB 1279

Dear Illinois Advocates,

Senator Don Harmon has introduced ASPCA-supported Senate Bill 1279,
which will prohibit discrimination against insurance applicants based
solely on their breed of dog. We feel that all dogs are individuals,
and we hope that you agree. Responsible guardianship, early training
and socialization--not just breed--are the factors that should be
considered when assessing a dog's level of aggression.

What You Can Do
We may need your testimony! Has your insurance company refused to
provide you with homeowners' insurance, or canceled/refused to renew
your insurance just because of the breed of the dog you own?

If so, please contact the ASPCA, not your legislator, directly, and
tell us about your experience by taking our fast and easy web survey.
We would like to know basic details, such as:

- Your dog's breed and age.
- The type of insurance you sought for your home.
- A brief synopsis and the date(s) of the incident.

If this does not apply to you, but you know someone who has had this
experience, please direct them to our survey.
