thanks for the replies

I am not looking for a new puppy, (yet!) but would like to know more about what health tests to look for.

Before we allowed Alfie to be used we did

hip and spine x-rays to make sure structures were good. We did the OFA Cardiac and Patella... participated in the OFA trachea study. I had a full blood panel done to check for proper organ and thyroid functions and have ran a urinalysis on him to check for any concerns. the x-rays were not submitted to OFA as they were done before he was 24 mos of age and I havent redone them as what I was looking for isnt something that changes.

I did the same series of tests on his mother and most (but not all) of the other girls I have bred. There have been a few that I just didnt get around to doing the full testing and honestly was very very comfortable with their health that I didnt make it a priority. I should have but didnt. Every dog or bitch we breed gets a full checkup and blood panel, but not always the x-rays, eye exams or urinalysis.

Thats just what we do... everyone is different.

The BCA

has a link to the CHIC site, and also has the CHIC participants. A good place to see, what is being tested, would be there.(You may see our Ch. Clarks Duchess of Westbury there as well).

Perserverance isn't a long race.
It's a series of short races,
ran one after the other.

tests

I'm not sure, but a vet here in Indianapolis does stud fitness exams. That would concern me. Buddy and Brother both have been to a "Bulldog" vet. It seems Hips, elbows, eyes, trachea, and palate. Test for Brucellosis. Believe it or not, VD, proud to say I can't spell that. lol. I'm sure there's more, and it's all on the site, but I have to stumble onto something as a way of finding it.
