There are SO MANY sprays advertised for finishing the coat for the ring. Does anyone have any suggestions? We don't have any dandruff or dry coat, just some static after grooming. I was thinking of trying Show Sheen, but it's made for horses, is it safe to use on bulldogs? Does everyone use a finishing product, or just a good shampoo and conditioner? On that note, what shampoo & conditioner works well?
Thanks!
Pure Paws Ultra Shine
a light misting on first day. Towel buff next days. nice shine and fragrance.
Perserverance isn't a long race.
It's a series of short races,
ran one after the other.

It is very slick
I use lots of horse products on the dogs but not the Show Sheen....too slick for the dogs IMO!
I use Mink oil.
Exactly, Tammy!
Well said.
Thankfully we never had to worry about any hands on with the horses (judging that is), we stuck to racing and 3 day eventing.

THANK YOU!
Everyone! Again, you guys have been a huge help. I will look into the mink oil and use caution with the Show Sheen. I will look into the other products as well!
Thanks!
I have used Show Sheen for over 20 years
for horses and for my show dogs.

You never ever want to saturate with the spray, that's not the intention. A light mist after bathing is the key. Massage with your fingers a bit and let dry. Then, brush out with a soft brush and finish with a polishing towel.
If you over use it, it causes this dusty film on the coat. When I showed horses, the judge would run his/her finger down the horse and check for Showsheen. If it was obvious, you were passed over.
Keep in mind I rarely apply more than once during a show weekend. I do it the first day, and then keep up the grooming with towel polishing. The ShowSheen is there till you bath again, or they find a muddy puddle
Use caution with Show Sheen!!
Show Sheen is like putting plastic on each individual hair of a horse... and the skin if it's saturated!! While bullys dont sweat like horses, I would still use a great deal of caution using it. If you want, try wetting your hands with it and then run your hands over your dog.
If you're looking to get rid of static, why not use mink oil? Just a small amount in the palm of your hands will get rid of static. So does a small dab of conditioner.
Good luck with it! I'm sure some other folks have their own ideas / thoughts / advice.
