Filling out???

I know that every dog and every line is different, but I was just wondering how long it took before your male dogs were completely filled out? At what age were they pretty much done growing - tall and wide. My puppy is 9 months, and I know that he has a ways to go. Were there any specific ages that you saw your dogs hit significant growth spurts? Were there heads the last thing to fill out?

boys keep changing

When Polky turned 2 I thought where did that head come from WOW !! I started showing him and he finished in less than 6 months. Now at 4.5 years old I think he looks even better. Bone takes alot of time to develop. A slow maturing dog is my preference as I think they will not fall apart as quickly. Deej

My boy is 11 months old

I can see many changes in him in the last two months. I was told by the owner of his sire that he won't fully mature until he's about 4.

Filling Out?

They all mature at different times, but in general most mature by 4 - 5 yrs. of age. Height is usually set earlier. I have seen, shown against and been beaten by your boy, he's a very nice dog, still has some maturing to do. You should see growing in the head, and rib in the next 6 to 12 months. Keep at the showing, learn all that you can and above all HAVE FUN!!! Hopefully see you in Syracuse next month.

Re: Filling out???

not really much to go off since I only own one male and he is a pet. But we got him when he was 20 months old. He is almost 5 and he channged up until about 4 years of age. His head and jaw kept growing. Height wise he has stayed the same, alittle more rib..and thats about it. I knew very little about his pedigree when we got him. But I did research it later on to find out that his line was slow maturers.
