I want to show a puppy that I bred, but I no longer own. When I'm filling out the entry form do I put my name for Agent because I'll be showing her and I'm not her owner?

There's a great level of responsibility to show dogs owned by others. Sometimes I think people feel that it's as simple as taking the dog in the ring and taking it to the show. As much as possible, I always have clients designate me as the Agent for their dog so that if serious decisions need to be made on behalf of the dog and its owners, then I would be legally entitled to make them. When you take someone else's dog (someone else's property), you have to be prepared for the consequences, should something terrible occur - the worst being death of the dog. You should always have a plan in mind should something like that happen.

Registered agents have a number you put in the box. The information still goes to the owner. If there is an agent number in the box it also goes to the agent. Just a name puts the name in the catalog only.

should be available from the Superintendent's website. The only time there might be a problem is if the show has an independent person doing the Show Secretary duties, then I'd ask for the info to be sent both to owner and handler if you can't get it otherwise.

o my, and on the flip side I also think some people think nothing of sending there dogs out with a handler. I haven't seen allot of bulldogs with all breed handlers, so much to consider for all.

if you are showing a dog that is with you and you don't put your name as agent, then the show information gets mailed to the owner, I'm sure its fine if you are picking up the dog and can get the schedule at the same time.

If you list yourself as Agent, it could be assumed you are handling the dog professionally and that could be a problem if you ever want to enter the new Amateur/Owner/Handler class. Personally I would leave the Agent line blank to avoid any misunderstandings - if you aren't being reimbursed for your services.

It doesn't cost any more to put your name as Agent. If you are getting paid I would for sure put it on the entry. Heck, put it on if you aren't getting paid. Who knows, someone might want to know who the hot chick showing that dog is!!!

Thank you, I've only shown dogs that I own, so I wasn't sure
if I had to do something differently because I don't own the dog.
