How many people do AI's 2 times per heat?
How many do AI's 3 times per heat?
What is your reasoning behind your decision?
Thanks for all of your help. I am trying figure out if I should do 2 or 3.
I have done both in the past and had mixed results.
I look forward to the more experienced breeders and their thoughts.
I am confused...

Really?
I have not seen any nasty on here in some time.
A-I's
Lisa?
Question Kathy
Is it the email address on your website? Just wanted to make sure I was sending it to the correct address.
Re: Here's what we do..
Will do. Thanks.
Re: Here's what we do..
email me privately.
Re: Here's what we do..
Kathy,
How much do implementations usually cost? What about progesterone testing?
On another note do you still have Magic? I am the individual from Maine that called you about her last litter and was very interested in one of her puppies, but decided we weren't up for it due to the recent loss of our female.
not really sure where the "ironic"..
is coming from... I am assuming that you misunderstood my response to Mike.. not sure what there was to misunderstand.. however if you have an issue you may email me privately. This board is not the place for derogatory sarcasm.

How Ironic Tammy
I was told not to post because of nasty responses on here.Ironically...Lisa said you guys were friends. It was Them who did the progesterone and the A-I.....I know THEY know their dogs better than any vet.....THEY have given me sooo much great advice......
Do it again....
...if you can. My Boozles was 100% cornified on the day her progesterone was only 2.3 She didn't ovulate until two days later and was AI'd the day after ovulation and the day following that. She's expecting...due next week.
Good luck.
Re: A-I's
Kelly
Thanks for your insight. I bred Sat. and Mon. and debating on a 3rd on Weds. We did not do progesterone testing, just slides. Sat. she was about 50 cornified, and Mon. about 90% cornified. What do others think. Like I said I have done breedings with 2 or 3 AI's and looking for more insight.
A-I's
HI MIKE,A-I's will be determined by the progesterone level. If you start at a lower number..you can get 3 A-I's in.However, the person performing the A-I can tell as well.If they are good..they can tell by the bitch's temp....Every bulldog is different. What works for 1...may not work for another....I personally...have only needed 2
Here's what we do..
We have our vet start progesterone testing a few days after our bitch is in heat. We test every 2-3 days until the progesterone level reaches 4.5-5.0 (ovulation occurs), then we wait 2 days and breed 1 time. We usually have a surgical implant done. We count our due date 63 days from ovulation date....not breeding date.
get a progesterone, it will also tell you when you should take t
puppies.
My last breeding we were going by slides and we were right on, but i wanted to know when we should take the puppies. We were right on and took them at 61days after 5ng

We do 3 breedings to make sure we have them covered
We breed 2 days after 5ng.
Then we breed the next day and then skip a day and breed again. WE have had great success and large litters.
I have breed a 4th time, i did this because of the way the vaginal walls felt, if they were soft, and loose still so we did the extra breeding.
I have also breed a bitch 3 days in a row. We did a progesterone and it was 17.9 and didnt get the results for 24hrs and the bitch was 4hrs away. So we breed her 28hrs after we got the 17.0 and we had 4 healthy puppies 1 girl and 3 boys.

IMO.. number of AI's is somewhat based
on progesterone however I think people tend to do what has worked for them in the past. I have AI'd twice and I have AI'd 3 times.. 3 times did not take and 2 did so go figure. I would never base and AI on temp or a smear.. they are just not accurate no matter how experienced the vet is. My last breeding I chose to AI twice and did two days in a row.. prog. was 5.5 on Friday morning.. we AI'd on Sunday and Monday evenings.. litter of 7.
