BCA Div IV Ambassador for Health program

Earlier today Elaine Andrew sent out an e-mail to all Div IV members introducing the new Ambassador for Health health testing recognition program recently approved by the Div IV Board.

I’m sure there are probably some members of Div IV who didn’t receive the e-mail for various reasons. Anyone who did not and who would like to receive the information, please feel free to e-mail me at danbandy@yahoo.com and I will forward the details including the application to you.

Briefly, the program is designed to recognize Bulldogs, owned by Div IV members, that have passed eligible health tests. At this time, the health tests included in the Ambassador for Health program are OFA patella, cardiac, thyroid, elbow and hip.

An eligible Bulldog who has passed any 2 of the test will receive a Silver certificate, one who has passed any 3 of the test will receive a Gold certificate and one who has passed any 4 or more will receive a Platinum certificate.

Additionally, a Bulldog who receives an Ambassador for Health certificate of any level can receive a Health Pioneer designation by having a current CERF certification at the time of the application, or by participating in any BCA initiated or recognized research including the CHIC DNA repository, OFA Tracheal Hypoplasia and OFA Spinal studies.

A certificate suitable for framing which lists the eligible health tests that have been completed by the Bulldog will be presented at the Div IV banquet. The deadline for submitting an application and supporting documentation for awards to be presented at the next Div IV banquet is March 15, ’08.

Again, please feel free to contact me if you did not receive Elaine’s e-mail or if you have any questions about the Ambassador for Health program.

Thanks,
Dan

wonderful!

Dan should be commended for his time and effort in this, along with Leigh Meeks.
I am hopeful other folks in various divisions will be as creative and proactive with ideas to further the cause of bulldog health education.
I will get my applications in the mail (as soon as I find the email buried in my in-box!)
Elizabeth
