amended bill worse, Californians ACT NOW

AB1634 has been amended. It is worse as the new provisions will create a bureucratic and oversight nigtmare. Neuter spay age is up to 6 mos now. It also now appears to limit permits to one male and one female per household for one litter only! This was supposed to be for non-show dogs but could easily be applied to EVERYBODY. AS IT IS NOW WRITTEN, YOU WILL BE LIMITED TO ONE DOG OF EACH SEX FOR ONE LITTER ONLY. unless of course you're a USDA licensed breeder then have fun! http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/07-08/bill/asm/ab_1601-1650/ab_1634_bill_20070627_amended_sen_v93.html

If you or your club or rescue or organization has already mailed a letter great. but you need a NEW one to be sent to all the Committee members and Committee consultants with the heading

"We remain adamantly OPPOSED to AB1634 as amended June 27, 2007 and ALL versions"

contact info for the committee http://saveourdogs.net/contactyourrep.html

Stay on point.

These laws do not work.

AB1634 will raise Animal Control and Care costs dramatically statewide as local measures have consistently done

Mandatory pet sterilization laws drive MORE animals into rescue and shelters. In short MORE animals will die.

AB1634 does nothing to address the real reasons animals are abandoned or relinquished and does not address un-owned animal populations such as feral cats

AB 1634 will cost the state millions in lost revenue to dog and cat events and tourism

Encourages smuggling, imports and puppy mills

Cannot be enforced fairly, is unwelcomed by many local governments and is an infringement on the rights of law abiding Californians

Local effort ARE working. Better enforcement of existing statutes and more community outreach and access to afordable veterinary services is the key, not restrictive laws sure to backfire.

don't dwell on good vs bad breeders, politicians don't really care or see much difference frankly. Keep it to ONE page. Make your points concise and firm, And of course tailor it to your organization

what i dont understand

why can they start changing wording and it not have to start over at the bottom of the voting.

If that is the case, then they can reword it so it says you can own a dog/cat and choose to have him/her fixed and right before it passes in to law change the wording to what it is.

I dont understand>
