For all of you Canadians

Did you see this?

Effective January 1, 2010 - A Ramp MUST be
available to judges (at their discretion) for examination of
low, heavy-set breeds in accordance with CKC Conformation
Rules & Regulations.

I just noticed it on the Premium list for a show I was thinking about entering...wonder if that means Bulldogs will be shown on ramps now?

I'll have to start new training!

Re: Sue I'm on PEI

I had a judge this summer ask for one, the club didn't have one... I said I could put her on the toy table and you could tell she thought about it. I always use the small breed high table at classes, should get used to a ramp now I guess. I'll be happy if they use them.

Finally

I have been questioning the CKC about this for years!! I am glad they finally realized that some people dont want to have to bend to examine, nor can some lift for it! YAY

Sue I'm on PEI

Just the end of Oct. I was at a show where the Mincey's were judging and Marilyn called for the ramp, they brought out this archaic ramp that was almost as high as a grooming table and steep! I trained my girl on it early the next morning and she was able to do it but I do believe the judges are being instructed to ask for it especially if the numbers warrant it. The ramp was called for all that weekend! Hope that it does become permanent.

Sue, I`ve got a show family in NFLD

Do you make it out there much, because I know they are willing travel to build an entry.

ramps

I am an old timer.. bred and showed bullies 20 yrs ago....when hubby died I got completely out of it..and just recently , about 1 yr. ago I got back into the showing..(not breeding).
I have NEVER seenn a ramp used ..in all the 20 yrs..never..
I wonder if the judges will ask for it now..
I hope so!
I live in Ont Canada

Ramps

Ramps are always nice..It really gives the exhibitor a chance to showcase their dog..Also its much easier on a judges back!

I wish they used ramps all the time

In the last few years I have used the ramp once out here. I find it so much nicer on a ramp.

Still at judge's discretion

it has always been a necessity at a show, however, the size of the ramp has now be set at 18" -20" (I believe). The judge can decide whether or not they will use it.
