Sir Francis Drake KC is hosting an AKC Sanctioned All-Breed Conformation "B" Match this coming Friday (9/11) in San Rafael, CA.
It is our first all-breed match. I just have a few questions.
1)Why is it called a "B" match?
2)Is there anything I should be prepared for that is different from a regular show? i.e., anything different I need to bring?
3)Is it any less formal than a regular show? i.e., Is it more for fun (I know there are no points associated with it)...Do I need to get dressed up for handling, or is like a jeans & t-shirt type of thing??
Both of my babies will be in the 6-9 month class, one for dogs & one for bitches. So, in each class it will be any breed with the same age group & sex, right?
Any other advice would be very much appreciated!
Any locals going to be there?
I'm so excited! Thanks so much!

Re: Just like a regular show
Matches are for fun, Shows are for points. Judges at matches are not AKC judges, normally. It's the best way to practice, because there are bunches of other dogs around, the judge does a hands on exam of your dog and you and your dog get to compete against other dogs and owners. Sometimes the judges will critique you and your dog and sometimes even give some good suggestions. Dress is casual. The biggest thing is to go and learn and have fun. Don't worry how you finish in a match, I've seen Best in Match puppy, who never earn a point towards their championship and I've seen dogs who were dropped in their classes finish in a few months. So go and learn all you can and have fun.

Just like a regular show
But no points are awarded. I look at it as practice. It is much less formal so jeans are ok.

Thanks guys!
I can't wait
