Dennis & Baxter's win this weekend seems to answer the age old question about ..."Should I show my dog in single pointed shows if he only needs a major"... lol Well Baxter just proved that you can win Breed in a single pointed show and go on to get a major by taking a Group 1 placement... Woo Hoo!!! Any thoughts on this?

Ive been on both ends Elaine
Chasing a major and single points..BOTH are equally hard as far as I am concerned..HOWEVER..I think I would rather chase the last few singles..

Needless to say...
The chances of picking up a major by going Group 1 from the classes, over specials, are so slim it is not only a waste of time and money, the unsportsman like behavior is a slap in the face to the other exhibitors and takes points away from other deserving dogs. Given the right scenario, it can also smack of political manipulation (how do you say that nicely?). I've seen it attempted many times but it usually fails. What is the point in finishing a dog with 25 points, scratching and clawing all the way for two borderline 3 pointers?

So now the age old question, would you rather be hunting a major or trying to pick up a single or two?
Elaine

Majors...
This was Baxter's 3rd major. He only needed four singles. He did finish by going group 1 for four points. A group 1 major win doesn't happen very often, heck a group 1 win doesn't happen often, period. I would not show a dog of mine that needed a major at a show where the only way to win the major would be to win the group...

Yep!! My thoughts are........
WooooooooooHoooooooooooo!!!! Congratulations, Dennis & Baxter!!

I definately think that what happened with Dennis and Baxter was the exception to the rule..People should not count on a group one for a major...I think if you only need majors you should stick to shows that will be majors..Leaving the smaller points to those who need them..
I did not get a chance to congratulate Dennis....SOO Here goes..CONGRATULATIONS!..Job well done.
