I have a 6 month old male. I noticed Friday(6/26), he had a tiny bit of puss by his right eye. I wasn't alarmed because I gave him a bath on Thursday (6/25) & I thought maybe a little bit of shampoo had gotten in there by mistake. When I let him outside this morning (Saturday,6/27), I noticed a lot more puss by his eye. I wiped the puss off & I noticed his pupil has turned a blue color. Someone told me that Bullseye might have an eye ulce??r I really, really need someone's help on this!!!! Bullseye has an appointment with the vet on Wed, July 1. Should I get him in sooner?? Please help me??
Thanks a lot,
-Kim

Re: what causes the pupil to turn blue?
Alot of times if you jump on the eye issues, you should be fine..it starts turning blue/hazy d/t irritation, and when it starts to heal, if you were to get a light, you can see tiny little blood vessels trying to work their way to the area of insult.
I would highly encourage you to get to the vet, and maybe even have a opthalmalogist examine the eye. Alot of regular vets can TOTALLY miss (not their fault) what exactly is the cause of the injury/insult. But definately take him to the vet Monday. Let him examine him. Follow his/her lead. If you don't notice a change (for the better) in a couple days, call the vet again, and if need be consider consulting opthalmalogist. It shouldn't look worse than it does now with proper meds.
Make sure the vet stains the eye to check for an actual ulceration. Then go from there. If there definately is an ulceration make sure no steroids are in any of the eye medications, as this can inhibit or make the ulcer worse. But make sure the eye gets stained.
Not contagious....

what causes the pupil to turn blue?
Why is my Lil Bullseye pupil blue? Can I be certain he didn't lose his sight in his eye? Is this what typically happens when an English Bulldog has an eye ulcer? Thank you again for all your help!!!!

is this contagious?
Thank you very much, Elaine. If I may, I have a few more questions for you: Is this condition contagious to other animals? I ask because I also have a 2 year old female Bully. 2nd question: What exactly is going on with my Lil Bullseye?

Agree...eye is irritated at best, ulcerated at worst...
get him into the vet Monday for sure and until then, you can flush the eye with artificial tears or ointment as many times a day as you can (at least 4xday). Gently wipe away excess or mucous from corner of eye but don't rub the center where its clouded/bluish.

Definately....
would get him in sooner! Blue color to the eye is not normal. Ulcers can develop hard and fast, so I think it would warrant getting him in earlier, and also the increase in puss would be a concern.

sounds like
an ulcer to me. If his pupil looks like it is fogging over. I would get him to a vet asap. There are certain things you do not wait for and the eyes are one of them
