Most vets dont know Crap about it mine said we know how to do it better and have a higher success and litters size. They also charge a fortune and don't know how to Di a collection

my mother has breed breeding dogs for years, she collects my male I inseminate the female. Has always worked well and more comfortable in their own home.

I have been taught how to by my mentor and have actually done it myself a couple of times. (but am still learning) I am curious if you all try to enter the cervix? Is the technique that you all use the same as your vets? And is their any good reading material on technique?

no way I would try to enter the cervix personally(I'd worry about infection). Maybe 5 or 6 inches in and hold the rear up for 7mins above the withers. Its worked well for me, I know everyone has their own way though.
We do
We use a long tube and then manual stimulation.
I dont think their is much, we dont lift the rear. We make them walk around alot, no potty for 2 hours or jumping up.

So does my mentor...
and she has fabulous results, but I have been hesitant to enter in more that 5-6 inches, but I still do the manual stimulation and elevate the rear, then crate time and no potty. I am not so afraid of infection but of perferating something.
The one bitch, keeps spotting....even though we bred when we should have (based on progesterone)...and it made me think, did I go in too deep this time? Just second guessing myself, my mentor said everything was fine.
I really wish there was a "landmark" to feel for, or something....it's such a blind procedure.
