What can I use for angry looking wrinkles?

Hi Everyone. I've been cleaning my bully's nose wrinkles with just warm water, once per day and ensuring that I dry thoroughly. I noticed today that its looking very red and raw under there. Can someone please recommend something for me to put on these soar spots?

Thanks so much!

Jaida

Re: What can I use for angry looking wrinkles?

My adopted rescue has alot of skin problems and his nasal folds being one of them. I use Baby Gold Bond and apply it with a Q-Tip and just roll it into the folds really well at least twice a day (avoiding his eyes).

Don't know what I would do without you all. Thanks! n/m

fix for wrinkles

As you probably already know, the issue is yeast. We with our bully we have found that a very small amount of over the counter yeast treatment for women, monostat, seemed to help with our dog. Anything that blocks the formation of yeast growth will help. You might want to get a perscription of tetracycline from your vet.

Thanks! Do I have to the Vet for these? n/m

Try Panolog ointment

Or the creme, the generic form is Animax, it does wonders even overnight to kill the bacteria resposible for the "yuck nose fold". It has a steroid component which will help with the red rawness.

You could try either

Desitin cream to soothe and protect or Gold Bond powder to dry the area. If it gets really infected you may need something from the vet like an antibiotic.

Yes, both Animax and Panalog are by prescription, but

try phoning your regular veterinarian's office and ask if you can purchase this medication to clean a deep nose wrinkle. If you use the same vet and have been there recently, they should sell you this medication. If they don't dispense without an exam, be sure you keep a list of medications you want to keep in your cupboard, and ask to buy them when you do go next time; medications such as Animax ointment, a small bottle of chlorhexidine solution (4-6oz) and perhaps Malaseb shampoo (altho online suppliers will sell you these two latter items w/o Rx).
