I was picking up my doggies' poop and noticed that one of the pieces of poop had a piece of a tapeworm. Should I take all my doggies to see the vet and have them dewormed again? The way I figure they should all go in for a deworming, but what should I do to prevent them from getting infected by parasites again?
droncit and fleas
You will need to control the fleas first and the only tapeworm medicine we have ever used or know of is droncit and it works really good.
Droncit
Thanks, I have been looking for Droncit online. It's pretty expensive stuff. Is it any cheaper with the vet? I have to treat four bullies. First time this has ever happened. I was using garlic in their food for flea prevention but stopped about two months ago. Thanks everybody!
tapeworms and appearance
I do know if they are laying down anywhere and you find anything that looks like dried rice, that is the egg hules from the tapeworms.... We had a problem with this and our first bullie, didn't know what kind of worm it was until the vet told us, she gave us droncit and then again a month later, it cleared it right up....
Actually, I believer tapeworm is the only worm not affected by H
or Heartgard Plus, that is at least what my vet has told me? But we do use Heartgard Plus for Rock to prevent any other worms, and we use a flea preventative so that we don't worry about tapeworms. So I agree, I'd definitely do Heartgard!

Droncit is what is used to get rid of tapeworms and
they come from fleas being ingested by the dog. So while you are getting rid of the worms with droncit you have to get rid of any fleas or they will come back again.
Re: Speak with your vet.
One is two yrs. old, two are 7 months and one is amlost 6 months old. The piece of worm I found in the poop looked like a segmented flat noodle. Each segment is about 1/8" long, that's the tapeworm right? I noticed that some of the other bulldogers have used Droncit and Broad-Spectrum Dewormer . What do you recommend?
Heartgard is good for prevention (if not already using it)
Definitely get your dogs dewormed. Heartgard if given monthly should help prevent various type of worms from surviving in your dogs system.
Speak with your vet.
Depending on the type of worms found, one or all may need to be checked. Basically once the dogs are dewormed, its a matter of cleanliness to keep it that way...cleaning up poop 2-3 times a day depending on the number of dogs, to prevent copraphagy (eating poop) and some types of worms are prevented along with heartworm prevention which is something you should also be discussing with your vet...but maybe the pups are too young for that now...how old are the other dogs?...6mos old minimum for HW, I believe.
