I hope someone can help us with this.
Maybull's back left paw pad seems very swollen. It's been that way for several weeks. It doesn't seem to bother her – she walks just fine – and it doesn't look like an interdigital cyst. It's NOT between the toes. It's the pad itself. It look very big and swollen. The pad itself feels normal except that it's big.
Anyone know what this might be?
Hmmmm
I assume that you've checked to see if there isn't anything stuck in there (being the attnetive bully mom you are). Have you caught her chewing on it at all? Because of the allergy season this year, which seems to be particularly bad, Stella has been chewing on her feet lately (mostly the left one, in fact). Maybe you could try a benadryl to see if it has any impact. That way you would know if it's an allergy thing.
Just shooting out ideas here!
Allergy season
I'm not sure if the allergy season has been bad here. It's still chilly (it's been in the 40ºs) although it's green.
She doesn't chew on her back paw at all. It doesn't seem to bother her, but it looks very swollen. Actually, I don't think she could reach her back paw if she tried. We're giving her benadryl because she is licking the front paws. Her right back paw seems fine. We've been soaking that in Dreft (as the vet recomments) starting today. I guess we'll see how that works.
The vet looked at the paw and didn't mention a thorn or anything. I don't know where she'd get a thorn, but you never know.
Thanks for the info. I'll keep you guys posted about this.
