Swollen lymph node ... Golf ball sized

Has anyone experience an absessed lymph node? The pupppy's lymph node is swollen larger than a golf ball. The vet drained it today and will do so again Saturday. He did an injectable antibiotic that lasts 7 days and sent her home with antirobe (sp) to give orally. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes

If it is an early infection the only sign you may notice is swollen lymph node(s)

She was given vaccines on Monday...

We thought that was the case and started her on benedryl and prednislone twice a day Tuesday. By Wednesday evening it was much larger and hard as a rock. Her bloodwork came back showing a severe infection...

Strangles

Make sure you're not actually dealing with puppy strangles...it's often mis-diagnosed or mis-treated. If it is strangles, it will not resolve without steroids. I've never heard of an abscessed lymph node but I guess anything is possible.

was the puppy give any vaccines

the last few weeks, if so it's prob a reaction and the swelling will go down.

Bella had one after her spay had a reaction to one of the shots and had a racket ball size lump on the side of her neck. It went away in a week.
