Hello, this forum has helped me out many times before and any help or thoughts is greatly appreciated!!
I noticed a little swelling on my 8 year old female bullies left side of her face 3 days ago. Today the swelling has doubled, she is eating, drinking and acting her normal self but I am freaking out!! Any ideas on what I could possible be facing?? The selling is under her ear and has increased down towards her mouth. Financial situations has kept me from taking her to the vet, I was hoping she just got bit by something but now since the swelling has increased I know she is going to have to go in.
Also, does anyone know if Dr. Butchko in Riverside, CA accepts payments or post dated checks??
I use Dr. Butchko. I would think if you go in and insist
that you see Dr Butchko and tell him your situation. I think he would work with you. If the staff makes a fuss that they can't guarantee you see him just let them know you will wait all day. I think an abcess is pretty serious and painful and he should be on meds.

Abcessed tooth?
Look in her mouth and see if you find anything.

Definitely sounds like an abscess...
and depending on how disruptive it is, he may only Rx antibiotics...if its easily analyzed as to where it originated and what caused it, draining it may be a possibility, but sometimes these side-face abscesses result from a deep-seated ear infection. I've had that happen to one of my bullies who had considerable stenosis in his ear canal from a long history of ear problems...the middle-ear infection had no where else to go but out the cheek area...dog ended up needing ear canal ablation surgery which is very expensive so I hope that your situation is much simpler, but it has to be exceedingly painful for the dog and hopefully if you show good faith in offering post-dated checks or even post-dated credit cards slips they will work with you.
