stomach problems

Our 3-year-old Thekla has been vomiting off and on for a couple of weeks now. X-rays showed nothing and blood tests came back normal. We have been going the chicken and rice routine and that seems to work, but as soon as I tried to mix a little bit of kibble back in, she started throwing up again. She used to be fine with the kibble, which is Innova, but not now. I have been wondering about whether we should keep her on chicken and rice and perhaps move our 4-year-old Hilda on to homemade food too.(Hilda is on a low residue kibble because she gets diarrhea when the food is too rich.) It just seems as though homemade food might be healthier for them and probably not really that much more expensive. If we end up doing that, what should we add to chicken and rice to make sure they get the right mix of food and vitamins and minerals? Any thoughts?

Innova -which meat?

If the tummy is not settling well and she has been on a bland diet then you add some beef kibble then it may just be too much. Could be the protein she is reacting to. Innova is a higher protein diet and very rich. Some Bulldogs dont do well on it.
Try changing the food and see if that works-

Innova

is a great food, but very rich.  My Jackson and crew didn[t tolerate it well, vomiting, etc. I switched them to California Natural herring, which is made by the same ocmpany and they are great.

Innova

The Innova we are giving her is mostly poultry and grains, but I think you are right that it might be too rich. But she has been fine on it for a few years and then suddenly she started vomiting which is what scared us. Has anyone had that happen with their dogs?

When Chester was a pup...

he had a hard time switching to adult kibble and had diarhea all the time. He was fine on hamburger and rice, so the vet said to just keep feeding him that, add some veggies (greem beans, brocolli, etc) and give him a multivitamin every day and that would be fine. Eventually he got over it and we got him back on kibble, but the cooked food would have been fine for him. Have you tried giving any pepcid? Sometimes when our guys throw up, the pepcid seems to calm their stomachs down.
