Sore toe

Hi friends: Belle (age almost 8) seems to have some redness and swelling at the nail base on one toe. She was limping a bit and I thought she was just stiff. Do you have any advice for a good healing ointment, or might this require antibiotics? Thanks so much Mary

Agree...try soaking and then gently cleaning the area

with a nubby towel to see if there's anything lodged between or underneath the toe, or the nailbed...even a stiff blade of grass can embed itself in a nailbed...soaking and cleaning afterward should take care of most "foreign objects".

i would.....

soak it a couple of days in epsom salt to see if that helps....before going on antibotics....
