So Rocco is my first English Bulldog, he is going to be eight months old in one week, he weighs 59.7 lbs and is huge but not fat at all. The vet said that he is just going to be a huge Bully and that he is perfect in weight for his size. I find that his stool is a little loose and not as "firm" as I remember from my previous dogs. I am feeding him Royal Canin Puppy food for large breeds (recommended by the doctor, because Rocco is large enough to be considered a large dog) with the medium breed puppy food he always has full blown diarrhea. There was no other cause for the Diarrhea, since I run for every little thing to the Vet.
I am giving him 2.5 cups of food twice daily. Is there anything I can do to make the Dog have normal stool?
Please help me if you have any input on Bully Nutrition, I am just pretty new to it.
Thanks
Elke & Rocco
Re soft stool and diarrhea
I would definately switch him onto a good adult food now. Also, I think perhaps 5 cups of food total a day is way too much and that could be causing the problem. I have an 8 month old too and she gets 1 and 3/4 of a cup twice a day , nice firm poops and growing at a good steady rate.I also give her a few small "biscuits" during the course of the day for training or treats.

He weighs 58 lbs. Right now he is on Natural Balance Fish and Potato. His stools are not soft and not too hard either. I tried the RC before and my dogs did not do well on it. Their coats were terrible.

Re: soft stool and Diarrhea question
Rocco is old enough for adult food now. Most switch their dogs over to adult food before 8 months. Sometimes the protein content of puppy food is too high. Switch to adult gradually and see if that helps.
