Submitted by Anonymous on April 21, 2010 - 12:03ammy one year only bull dog has been dx with demodex and has been on meds for about 6 weeks. she now is loosing a large amount of hair. I am not sure if this is due to the demodex or not. i have recently started to give her pedigree dog food as this seems to be the only food she seems to eat. ( she has been on back to basics) does anyone have any suggestions on what to due at this point.

Dozer lost a ton of hair when he had a staph infections. He was on antibiotics for a month to clear it up and his hair came back in very quickly.

Demodex takes several weeks to resolve. What medication are you using for it? Many use Ivermectin daily for sometimes up to 12 weeks. The dog will usually look worse before he looks better. Some dogs also get a bacterial skin infection along with the demodex. If that's the case your vet can prescribe an antibioitc for it.
I know several well known bulldog breeders who feed Pedigree. It's probably not the food.
