Shedding question
Submitted by kimrisa on April 24, 2010 - 1:32amHello! I'm so happy to be back from Florida and with my Tuffster again. When I picked him up from the vet I noticed he's been shedding more than usual (I noticed this right before I dropped him off from the vet.) When I look at his back I see excess hair on his coat Could this be a seasonal thing or should I look into adding omega 3 to his diet or some such?

maybe he's stressed from being at the vet's. My guys are shedding like crazy right now but it's really warm here (phx).

Mine is shedding like crazy too!!
I think it's the season. Emma has bald spots, she scratches A LOT also..to the point that her skin gets red and irritated. SOmetimes bloody. She was/is on ketoconizole and simplicef pills for a skin yeast infection plus the vet says she has bad allergies right now. If your bully is scratching it might be allergies. I've been told benadryl works but haven't gotten a chance to use it yet.

Jessica, it sounds like your baby is suffering more than mine. Tuffy isn't itching (yet!) just shedding. Kathy, you might have a point about it being stress induced. I'll see if it settles down in the next few days. But I see from other posts on the board that I'm not alone in this shedding problem!
Diana on the regular board recommended a good chew for dogs that she says helped tons with the shedding. Naturvet Skin & Coat for Dogs. I'm thinking of trying that before going back to straight Fish Oil because Tuffy's belly didn't like the fish oil...
